Scouting in Chiltern Vale Scout District
The Chiltern Vale Scout District draws together the scouting activities for children between the ages of 5 and 18 in the north-west of Buckinghamshire. As you can see from the map below, we cover everything from Brill in the north to Lane End in the south, from Oakley in the West to the Hughenden Valley in the east.
Besides the local scout group and explorer scout unit activies, we have a number of District wide activities that draw the children out of the local environment.
- Every second year we hold a District Camp, where everyone gathers together for a fun filled weekend of scouting
- Every year we run The Endurance Events, a range of hikes through the Chilterns ranging from 80km for Explorers, Network and adults, through 60kms for explorers only, 40kms for scouts and 10kms for cubs.
- We hold regular scout and cub camps as well as beaver days
- Every four years we support a number of our childen to go to the worldwide scout jamboree, which in 2019 was in the USA and in 2023 will be South Korea.
Besides the activities for the children, we ensure that all our volunteers are trained to the highest standards to ensure the children enjoy themselves with the best activities, in an environment where the risks are well understood.
